The roofs of hundreds of bus stops have been covered in plants as a gift to honeybee by a city in the netherlands. The roofs are covered with sedum flowers and other plants which act as an oasis for bees. The bus shelters were commissioned by clearchannel one of the largest outdoor advertising companies in the world and produced by epsilon. Flood and drought resistant plants on the canopy will act like a sponge to absorb the rain and excess water will be filtered through three levels of soil.

Mainly made up of sedum plants a total of 316 have been covered in greenery in. Plus the added greenery has a slew of other positive environmental effects. More than 300 bus shelters roofs have undergone a green transformation each with their new blanket of sedum. Greening of the bus shelters also highlights the value of integrating sustainable design and green travel in our attempts to reduce rates of climate change.
